We had a wonderful Christmas! It was so much fun watching Emory enjoy things this year. She got so excited about everything, except Santa Claus. She is still terrified of his "fuzzy face" and the thought that he comes into her house while she is asleep. Santa decided to bring exactly what she asked for and nothing else so that she didn't get overwhelmed. This means that he only brought a pink and purple basketball, a princess basketball goal and a pink and purple microphone. I struggled with that for a little while until someone told me that if three gifts were good enough for Jesus then three gifts are more than enough for kids these days. I really liked this perspective and went with it. Blair got a snail toy that plays music and rolls along as she pushes it, diapers and
sippy cups. Both girls got some small stuff in their stockings and books, clothes and a toy each from Eric and me.

We flew to North Carolina on Christmas Eve and spent the morning with Grammy and Keith, Bethany,
Merrin and Elliott. After such a big morning, both girls slept for most of the drive to Tennessee that afternoon. The snow started about 45 minutes after we left
Grammy's and didn't stop for two days. We were planning to baptise Blair on Sunday morning at my parents' church. The thought of snow hadn't entered my mind when we planned this, and church was of course cancelled on Sunday morning. This was definitely disappointing but there isn't anything I can do about it. By the way, my New Year's resolution is to "Give it to God", more on that in a later post.

As you can see, both girls loved the snow. Blair was only technically in the snow for this picture but she enjoyed herself. Emory on the other hand, never wanted to come inside. She wanted to sled, make snow angels and snowmen, throw snowballs and run around with her cousins all day long. You would never know that she was a desert baby.

The thing that both girls loved the most, however, was playing with their cousins. They had a blast! Emory loves getting to play with other kids from the moment she wakes up until the moment she finally crashes for the night. The big girls are nice enough to let her tag along and she absolutely loves having cousins close to her in age. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful families.

This is what most of our return flight looked like. I am thankful that both girls are wonderful little travellers. Eric is one of those people that can fall asleep as soon as the engines start, I was even able to get a little catnap as soon as I put the camera away.
We had a wonderful trip, but there's nothing better than coming home to your own house and more importantly, your own bed.
