Little Bean

Just a few pictures to show what has been going on the last few months.

4 Weeks

8 Weeks

13 Weeks

We were able to hear the heartbeat at 9 weeks and again at 14 weeks. The doctor said that everything seems to be going well. I'm starting to feel better for the most part. If anyone has a magic cure for headaches that they are willing to share, you'll be my new best friend.

We haven't told Emory much about the baby because 40 weeks is a little too long for a 2 year old to wait. We have, however, asked her about names. She consistently answers that a baby brother should be named "Auntie Becca" and a baby sister should be "Uncle Ky-ule". I guess we'll see.

Annika and Mia better watch out!

Emory seems to love sports. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she was born eight days before football season started, maybe because she is her father's child. She likes to watch football and basketball on TV and loves to go to baseball games. She has been going to the driving range with Eric since before she could crawl.

Recently, she has had the opportunity to show her skills. We went to the driving range while Granmomma and Grandaddy where visiting over Christmas. Eric is ready to get her some clubs of her own, we'll see how long I can delay it.

Our town has soccer for all ages, even two year olds. Emory and Eric are in the parent-child soccer league. She loves it! She even practices at home. Her favorite "drill" is kicking the cones and then using only her feet to turn them upright again.

Ouch!

Well, Emory definitely takes after me in the grace department. She fell, teeth first, into the coffee table last week. She took a chunk of wood out of the table and was left with some swelling and lots of bruising. She even got a black eye (again)! The swelling is completely gone and her bruises look a lot better. I know this won't be the last injury she gets, but it is not something I want to think about.

Christmas Day in Pictures

Looks like Santa came by!
The only thing Emory asked for was an orange harmonica. She talked about it for weeks before Christmas. She finally decided that Santa is friendly because he brought her exactly what she wanted.
Santa also thought that she would enjoy having her own horse (since she is a cowgirl). She promptly named her horse Abby, just like the one she got to ride the range on.
We had so much fun opening presents!

We ended the day with a birthday party for Jesus. Our friends, the Laytons, came over for dinner and birthday cake. Emory insisted on wearing party hats.

Finally

I'm finally getting things up and running since the Great Computer Crash of 09. Today is just a quick post to say that we are still alive and all is well. We've had a very busy couple of months and I'm just now getting my pictures sorted out. I hope to have a holiday post up in the next couple of days.

Emory Riding Range!

This brave little cowgirl definitely belongs out here in the wild west. Our playgroup went horseback riding a few weeks ago. As we were getting ready to go that morning, I let her watch the Riding the Range episode of the Backyardigans. By the time we got to the ranch, she was ready to go! She still talks about it, "Emory riding range" "Emory cowgirl, yahoo!" "Emory riding purple horse named Abby". She rode all by herself while I led the horse around the ring and up and down the street (aka dirt road in the middle of the desert). I was so proud!

Aunt Miss Angela

We were so lucky to have Aunt Angela come visit for a week in October. Emory had a blast and is still talking about Aunt Miss Angela. We tried to do everything there is to do out here in only a week. We went to the botanical gardens, the lake, Sedona, The Grand Canyon and to see a couple plays. Emory got to eat out at a Mexican restaurant for the first time and loved it.

I even got to have some child-free adventures thanks to Aunt Barbie and Uncle Bill. The Grand Canyon is unbelievable but I'm not quite ready to take Emory just yet. We can't wait for her next visit.
